Every week we will be telling you about a different Essex Wedding Venue that we have worked closely with in the past. This weeks' venue is:

Maidens Barn

Maidens Barn, a stunning choice for your luxury wedding venue in Essex, is the perfect place for a country wedding.
With the help of our friendly family team, your wedding at Maidens Barn will be one of the most memorable days of your life.
The setting for your wedding day is the lovely vaulted Maidens Barn, dating back to the 1800’s, which has been beautifully renovated to provide a stylish and atmospheric place for luxury wedding receptions and civil ceremonies throughout the year.
Maidens Barn, whilst being one of the best country wedding venues in Essex, is still within easy reach of London, the M11 and Stansted Airport.
The Barn has a lovely garden with views over the open countryside. It also has a wedding arbour – a very special place for outdoor wedding ceremonies.
You will have exclusive use of the luxury wedding Barn. As a small family business we pride ourselves on offering you a very flexible service, working with you to plan your perfect wedding day. If you would like to find out more about getting married at Maidens Barn we would be delighted to chat with you or make an appointment for you to visit our luxury wedding venue.

The garden at Maidens Barn has been designed to compliment this lovely country wedding venue and provides a pretty setting throughout the year.  It has colourful flowerbeds, fine trees and many planters with seasonal flowers. There is a large lawn and plenty of seating. A stylish marquee is the ideal place for your wedding reception drinks. The garden is a popular setting for barbeques and hog roasts and provides the perfect backdrop for romantic wedding photographs. As the daylight fades soft lighting comes on so you can enjoy sitting out on warm summer evenings. We offer very competitively priced drinks packages and would be pleased to arrange a wine tasting with you if you would like. A licensed bar operates in the evening and we charge regular pub prices. There is ample car parking with plenty of space for cars, coaches and buses for your guests.

Civil Wedding Ceremonies
Maidens Barn is licensed for civil ceremonies and we do not charge extra for this (you do, of course, have to pay the Registrars). We can seat up to 200 people but many civil weddings are not so big and the Barn can provide an intimate setting for smaller wedding groups. If the weather is fine we are also licensed for outdoor civil wedding ceremonies. These take place under the arbour in our beautiful garden with views over the open countryside.
Church Weddings
Many couples prefer to get married in Church and then come back to Maidens Barn for the wedding reception. Our local Church, St. Mary’s at High Easter, gives a very warm welcome to couples who want a church wedding close to Maidens Barn.

Wedding Venue of the Week: Hedingham Castle, Essex

Every week we will be telling you about a different Essex Wedding Venue that we have worked closely with in the past. This weeks' venue is:

Hedingham Castle

What can be said about Hedingham Castle that hasn't been said before? It is a truly stunning and atmospheric location for a Wedding. What can be better then having your Wedding staged in one of the oldest castles in England! We love photographing Hedingham as there are just so many stunning locations to shoot both photographs and video. We always receive a very warm welcome from the staff and especially Lauren the Wedding planner! We have included some shots from our latest wedding at the Castle to give you an idea of the stunning locations this venue offers.

Here is a bit about the castle:

A wedding is one of life’s great occasions, and every couple dream of a perfect day in a perfect setting. Few locations could be more suitable for a grand marriage ceremony than Hedingham Castle, which has overlooked the Essex village of Castle Hedingham for almost 1,000 years. Unquestionably one of England’s most romantic settings, the Norman keep and nearby Georgian country house collectively offer a unique and unparalleled venue for couples on their wedding day, in tandem with an enviable roster of facilities including a vintage Rolls-Royce.

Hedingham Castle was constructed in 1140AD, both by and for the famous de Vere family. These Earls of Oxford lived here for more than five centuries, and to this day the castle remains under the ownership of their descendants, the Lindsay family. As one of Britain’s oldest buildings, the stunning keep still overlooks almost the entire county of Essex, with its 12-foot thick walls and original Norman architectural flourishes having been admired by numerous royal visitors including Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. Close by is the Queen Anne House, constructed in 1720 and overlooking a lake and glorious wooded grounds which are populated by a profusion of birds, flora and fauna.
