A band or DJ at my Wedding?

So you have sorted the venue, your dress, your photographer etc. and your mind turns to the reception entertainment. Do you go for a DJ or a live band? Well that all depends on what you want! A DJ is good for playing a wide range of musical styles and can cater to all tastes of music that your guests may enjoy. However apart form the lightshow a DJ can be very static and sometimes quite boring!

A live band (if they are good!) will entertain the guests much more and give a nice visual to your reception. A good wedding band will be able to play a wide range of music styles and should give you a play list for you to choose suitable songs from. They may also be able to play your first dance number which can be a very memorable expereince.

Before you decide it will be worth checking with your venue as sometimes they can have restrictions on bands due to sound levels and the number of performers in the band. Also something else to bear in mind is the costs involved. A live band is often more expensive then a DJ so if you would like a band make sure you budget for one! A decent wedding band can charge between £500 and £1500.
