Choose several different bottles, preferably with a similar price tag, then let people try them (without showing them the label so they can give their completely unbiased opinion. The empty bottles will provide a clue as to the winning wines! Some favourite white wines are pinot griglio, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc – try Chilean, Californian or Australian for softer, easy-drinking wines. Reds can be heavy so stick to a lighter, fruity pinot noir grape type wine to suit most palates.
